Photo of Janet Skaggs Hardin, painter
Working from photographs by Ron Coley artist Janet Skaggs Hardin captures the magic found in the light when it is reflected in a free flowing artesian spring.

A West Texas girl, Janet studied art at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Her love for the river that flowed near her grandmother’s home was part of why she chose to study at SWTSU.

A brief stint as an Aqua Maid at Aquarena Springs combined with extensive float trips down that lovely river, influenced her to eventually travel to Giverny, France. Studying the work of Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh, take up residence on the Cote d’Azure and “painting her brains out.”

On the Pacific Ocean’s coast in a small beach town, Playa Blanca, Janet began to work from underwater photographs from the San Marcos Springs where her art first took flight.
